June Jing Wang (Jing Wang, her Chinese name; June Wang, her Canadian name), a Chinese Canadian filmmaker, was a former CCTV (China Central TV Station) journalist and Outstanding Youth winner of the Chinese TV & Broadcasting Academy. In her early 20's, she published her first book, a literature monograph, Watching Seas Listening to Tides, which gained her popularity in China.
In 2004, J. Wang graduated from York University in Canada, with a Masters of Arts in Cinema Studies. In 2006, she wrote and directed her first feature film, Forever Fireworks, which was exhibited in the 2008 Busan International Film Festival.
Crafting the script of her second feature Perfect Baby over a two year period, she then directed and shot the film in Paris in 2011. The film was shortlisted in the International film Festivals in England and New York, screened in China's Huabiao Film Awards, and achieved strong box office and word-of-mouth in the Chinese mainstream cinemas. J. Wang was honoured with the En Route to France award and Promising Director by The FilmFrance Commission in 2012.
In 2015, Wang joined the China-France co-Production feature film Wolf Totem, as the co-Producer, Script Coordinator, and Documentary Director. The film won the Huabiao Film Award in China and reached a $130 million global box office.
J. Wang is currently writing and producing her upcoming feature film, a magical realistic romantic musical comedy The Tree Knows, which explores female empowerment through the unique intimate perspective of Tango. The film will be shot in Toronto, Buenos Aires and China Yunnan Luguo Lake area.
In March 2020, at the onset of the global COVID-19 pandemic, Wang was stranded in Buenos Aires while doing her script research. She spontaneously produced and directed an interview style documentary A Tango with Chino Perico, which has won the 2020 IndieFest Film Award for Special Purpose Production.

J. Wang’s passionate narratives are full of compassion. Her characters always strive to turn their vulnerabilities into strength and rise again from misfortune. She aspires to create inspirational films, and believes in the power of positive thinking to lift one’s life.
